How we protect you
Your money is nobody's business. Your rate can be.
This is the plain-English version. The legal one is the Privacy Policy.
Amounts are private by default.
A Challenge ranks you by Stack Rate, a percentage. On the Amount Saved view, members who haven't shared show Private, and they still hold their rank. Sharing your dollars is a choice you make one Challenge at a time, and you can undo it.
Expenses work the same way: private by default, shared per group. Your income, your take-home pool and your account balances are never sent to other members. Ever.
No bank logins, ever.
StackUpp never asks for bank credentials, card numbers or account numbers. There is nothing to connect, so there is nothing to leak. You type your own numbers.
No tracking.
No advertising SDKs, no cross-app tracking, no data brokers, no ads. The website has no analytics scripts and no cookies either.
Phone numbers stay yours.
When you invite someone by phone, your phone sends the message. StackUpp never shows a phone number to other members.
MFA on every account.
Sign in with Apple, a passkey, or an authenticator app. On top of that, an app PIN and an optional Face ID lock cover the phone in your hand.
Delete everything, yourself.
Delete your account and all its data from inside the app at any time. You can export a copy first, and export is always free.
Encrypted, in transit and at rest.
Passwords are stored as salted hashes and session tokens only as hashes. Every request is checked so you can only ever reach your own records.
Under 18
Teens join through a parent. Never on their own.
Every account asks for a date of birth. Under 13 is refused before anything is stored. A 13-to-17-year-old can only use StackUpp as a teen account added by a parent or guardian with StackUpp Gold, and that parent's act of adding them is the consent we record.
The parent sees their own teen's amounts and approves every friend. Nobody else ever sees a teen's dollars. The rules below are enforced on our servers, and none of them can be switched off before the teen turns 18.

Teen leaderboards show rank and points only. Amounts are visible to the teen and their parent.
Every friend is parent-approved
Teens can only befriend other teens, each friendship waits for each parent’s approval, and adults can’t send a teen a request.
Hidden from search
Teens never appear in search, and a teen’s friend link shows no name.
No location, no benchmarks
No ZIP code, no debt, income or expense records, no Financial Health Index, and no peer comparisons.
No promotions, quiet nights
Promotions are never shown to anyone under 18, and pushes are held between 10pm and 7am.
Their account at 18
The parent link ends on their 18th birthday. They keep everything and stay private until they choose otherwise.
What friends can see, in one table
